York Flexible Support Scheme

The scheme offers support to customers who have tenancy issues and are worried about losing their home.

We can support you with issues such as debt, benefits and dealing with your landlord and other organisations such as utility companies. We can also sign post you towards other organisations that can help you with more specialised areas such as drug or alcohol related issues. The support can last for any period of time up to 2 years and can be as much as once a week or as little as once a month.

Paul and Denise's story

Paul and Denise were referred to the scheme by their estate manager at the council. They were in serious rent arrears and also had some problems with their noisy neighbours. Following assessment, a support worker helped the couple to claim housing benefit and to set up a payment plan to clear their arrears. They worked closely with their support worker and their Estate Manager to resolve the neighbour problems.

The Support Worker also helped Paul and Denise get on education and training courses.  We hope this will help them get jobs in the future.
