Applying for Accommodation
| Current Homes Available | Frequently Asked Questions |
The majority of our properties to let are in York, with 82 properties in Rothwell, Leeds. We are committed to providing good quality affordable homes, and when we allocate housing we treat all applicants equally.
Housing is allocated to:
- applicants registered on the Joint Waiting List with City of York Council and Leeds City Council.
- applicants nominated by the local authority
- applicants referred by other agencies for supported or student housing
- currently a tenant and would like to transfer to another property
Applications for general needs housing or sheltered accommodation are banded in accordance to housing need. These properties are located in York and Leeds. We also have a nomination agreement with the City of York Council and Leeds City Council, and a percentage of our vacancies are allocated by people they have identified with the greatest need. We do not hold our own waiting list and you would have to contact the local authority for an application form.
We have some supported housing for people with special needs, such as mental health problems, learning disabilities and single vulnerable women. These properties are located in York and Scarborough.
We have Agency Managed 24 hour care supported housing for people with disabilities who are not able to live on their own. The majority of the properties are in York, but we have some in the East Riding, Scarborough, Malton and Ripon. If you would like more information about these properties please contact us on 01904 636061.
We have student housing for full time registered students at the University it York, and these are in Heslington, York and the centre of York.
Transferring Properties
We have an internal transfer list for current tenants wishing to move to another of our properties. You would need to complete an internal application form, together with any supporting documents, for example a letter from your doctor supporting a move. For further information please contact your housing officer.
Mutual Exchanges
Another way to move homes is to do a mutual exchange, with either another housing association tenant, or a tenant of a local authority. Your local authority offices will have a noticeboard advertising people who are looking to do an exchange. Once you have found someone that you would like to exchange with please contact your Housing Officer who will tell you what to do next.
