Heslington Road Scheme

The property provides accommodation for six single people with mild learning difficulties who need housing with support. The scheme has 12 hours of support a week. This support can range from help with arranging benefits, budgeting, finding work, volunteering or addressing any other issues you may have. We also provide additional support through our Housing Support Assistants who assist in developing your practical skills such as cooking and shopping. The aim of your stay is to equip you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to move on into independent living.

Heslington Road is for customers who have mild learning disabilities.

Telephone the Housing Support Team Leader on 01904 636061 for further information. You can also call a confidential telephone number to the Community Services Team for people with Learning Disabilities who will give you any information you require about our service and other supported housing schemes in York their number is 01904 654947.

A suitable date can be arranged for viewing the property and meeting the tenants.

If Community Services then wish to make a referral, the Housing Support Team Leader will arrange for the prospective applicant to meet with existing tenants at the property. Because this is a house for six people sharing it is important that people do have an opportunity to meet to help them decide if they feel able to live together.

After the visit and if the applicant wishes to proceed further, then they should complete an application form. This should be forwarded to the with a completed referral form. The referral form should give as much detail as possible about the applicant and his or her needs.
